IS TENNIS FOR THE RICH?

Tennis is for sure not only for the rich.

Let’s calculate the expenses. In another post, I was talking about the cost
of tennis and taking private lessons.

What about the monthly cost if you are kind of average frequent player with
4 times of tennis per week. Also, let’s say that you play twice per week singles
and twice per week you play doubles.

1. Tennis racket
You need one or two rackets. Today you can get an excellent second-hand racket for $ 50.
So, to have 2 rackets is only $ 100! The new rackets, two pieces would cost you
not more than $300.
Yes, if you are not very familiar with today’s prices, compared to other sports
this is really cheap, especially since tennis is told to be a very expensive sport.

2. tennis balls
A new can of balls, with 3 or 4 balls inside, cost under $10 while in the US it is twice cheaper.
Even 3 times.
If you split the cost, it becomes really cheap. You can use 1 can of balls minimum for 3
games.

3. Tennis court
Renting fee for 1 hour of tennis costs between 5 and 20 $, but if it is indoor
with good climatization – it will be another 20 to 40 $ per hour.
If it is a double match the fee will be split among the 4 of you.
If you play single – you will split on 2, but if you are taking a lesson
you will pay for all this by yourself plus the lesson.

4. Membership
There are many private clubs with extremely high membership fee but also there are many tennis
courts where you play for free or you pay just a little per hour. Also, some beautiful tennis clubs are
with a very affordable annual fee.

5. Lessons
Depending on if you want to do private or group lessons,
this pleasure can be very expensive. That is why I wouldn’t calculate
this in the “common cost” of playing tennis.

Of course, like everything else, some people can do tennis treats only once
per week and some tennis lovers “need” to play a minimum 2 hours per day.

Again, it is not easy to put the price tag on the pleasure that tennis can give you, right?
